VOSB
Cyndtek is proud to be a certified Veteran-Owned Small Business (CVE). This certification has mandatory stipulations prior to assessment phase. Business must be majority owned and controlled by a Veteran U.S. Citizen. Veteran must hold highest officer position in company. Business must be properly licensed with federal and state government with no federal debts or obligations outstanding. After prequalification, an assessment, federal review, a decision is determined. Less than 1% of U.S. companies are veteran certified.
CONFLICT FREE
Cyndtek is committed to social and environmental responsibility in our electronic component supply chain. We meet regulatory obligations according to section 1502; Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer protection act, by only distributing electronic components sourced from responsible and auditing manufacturers. The four minerals codified are Columbite-tantalite (tantalum), Cassiterite (Tin), Wolframite (tungsten), and Gold from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Additional training, resources and information can be located at www.conflictfreesmelter.org.
CAGE CODE
The Commercial And Government Entity CODE is a unique identifier assigned to suppliers that work with the US Government, Department of Defense (DOD), the National Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA) and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Obtaining a CAGE code is part of SAM registration. For more information, or to look up Cyndteksโ Cage Code visit The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) at www.dla.mil.
ISO
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is an independent global institution that develops and shares relevant standards. This supports, innovates and provides quality solutions in 167 countries, covering almost all aspects of technology and manufacturing. ISO is derived from the Greek term โisosโ, meaning equal. Top technical sectors include Health, medicine, lab equipment, information technology, mechanical engineering, and transportation. More information can be found at www.iso.org.
GIDEP
Government-Industry Data Exchange Program (GIDEP) started in 1959 as a mutual agreement of the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force to reduce duplicate testing conducted for the US Military by suppliers. It has migrated to technology that provides the GIDEP customers a more reliable, faster, and user-friendly technical resource to reduce or eliminate excess expenditures. GIDEP data helps both the federal government and manufacturers identify risks, promote safety, elevate reliability, while maximizing resources. More information can be found at GIDEP.org
ROHS
Reduction of Hazardous Substances was established in the European Union in the summer of 2003, with the goal of reducing the environmental impact of electronics. It is commonly referred to as the โlead-free directiveโ however, it restricts ten substances. 1. Lead (Pb), 2. Mercury (Hg), 3. Cadmium (Cd), 4. Hexavalent chromium (Cr/6), 5. Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), 6. Polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE), 7. Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), 8. Butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP) 9. Dibutyl phthalate (DBP) 10. Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP). The RoHS 2 amendment added 1. Bis(2-Ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), 2. Benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP), 3. Dibutyl phthalate (DBP), 4. Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP). There are scope limitations and exclusions included. RoHS 3 includes all phthalates. RoHS is not the only environmental standard that is available. Multiple reduction improvements for electronics are incorporated from single manufacturer at a state level to multiple content directives.
ESD SAFE
ElectroStatic Discharge (ESD) is commonly known as โstatic electricity.โ These discharges occur when an electric charge is built up then transferred to another object, often accompanied by a visible spark. This can cause product defects or lead to unsafe circumstances. ESD-safe materials reduce the discharge of static electricity and prevent damage to electronic products. An ESD-safe workstation consists of: 1. Wrist strap devices linking people to ground. 2. Wrist strap grounding system ensuring strap is grounded to mat. 3. ESD protective worksurface mat to aid in the prevention of damage to sensitive devices. 4. Worksurface Mat Grounding Cord properly grounded. 5. Antistatic Jacket while in designated ESD area. 6. ESD Floor matting with exterior grounding rod. Depending on the area, there are additional precautions that can be taken. Cyndtek only uses ESD-safe products to maintain work areas within the ANSI/ESDS20.20 standards set by the ESD Association. Find more information on standards and training at www.ESDA.org.
