The MAX6627MKA#G16 precise digital temperature sensor accurately monitors the temperature of a remote sensor, typically a diode-connected transistor like the 2N3904 NPN type, replacing conventional thermistors or thermocouples. It can also measure the die temperature of other ICs, such as microprocessors (µPs) or microcontrollers (µCs), containing an on-chip, diode-connected transistor. The remote accuracy is ±1°C within a range of 0°C to +125°C, while the device temperature is +30°C. The temperature is converted to a 12-bit + sign word with a resolution of 0.0625°C. Its architecture allows interpreting data as high as +145°C from the remote sensor, although the MAX6627MKA#G16 temperature should not exceed +125°C. These sensors feature a 3-wire serial interface SPI-compatible, enabling easy connection to various µCs. They are read-only devices, simplifying their integration into systems where only temperature data is necessary.

Two conversion rates are available: one continuously converts data every 0.5s (MAX6627), and the other does so every 8s (MAX6628). The slower version ensures minimal power consumption under all operating conditions (30µA, typ). Both devices operate within supply voltages of +3.0V to +5.5V, maintain specifications between -55°C and +125°C, and come in compact 8-pin SOT packages, making them ideal for a wide range of temperature sensing applications.
